Blogger Recognition Award

Blogger Recognition Award nomination

I am so grateful for the Blogger Recognition Award nomination from Chloe, who has been so supportive since I started blogging at the end of February. Check out her blog, she’s got some great content on her Erasmus year and her travels, mental health and general lifestyle blog posts.

Rules of the Blogger Recognition Award

  1. Thank the blogger for nominating you and give the link to their blog.
  2. Write a blog post on your website showing the award.
  3. Describe the story of why you started your blog.
  4. Write two pieces of advice you have for new bloggers.
  5. Nominate 15 more bloggers.
  6. Notify each of your nominees that you have nominated them.

My blogging story

I started blogging less than two months ago, right at the end of February. I had just handed in my resignation for my job and I had a plan to move to the north of England. The intention was to use my blog to document my journey, share what tips I’d learnt as a journalist and build a portfolio that I could use going forward.

I never imagined that I would meet so many wonderful people in the process, or gain so many skills that I never knew I had. My intention with my blog has and still is to double it up with my work as a social media consultant, copywriter and PR person. I still want to use it as my personal portfolio, but I have found myself adding a lot of travel into it and they seem to be my most popular posts. I may be new to blogging but I am excited to see what the future holds.

Advice for new bloggers

The best advice I can give is network. Engage with fellow bloggers on social media. There’s no one more supportive than the people who have been and lived in your shoes. Connecting with people who have had similar experiences, or who can offer expertise or just people who like to write is so refreshing.

If you feel down about your site stats as we all do, it’s important to build a network of people who can pick you back up. But also, there’s always people wanting and willing to read your content. Just one blog view a day is still one person who is interested in reading your content each day.

I’ll keep the second piece of advice simple: never give up and remember why you’re doing it. Passion always sells, just don’t give up.
